- Navigate to https://saf.itcs.hpe.com and login using your HPE Passport credentials.
- Select the SAFAnalyse tool.
- Select the DEMO VMware environment and click on the analyse icon:
The data on the VMware tab is the result of running the SAF Collector tool in an existing environment. We can use this data as input for the Nimble Storage dHCI Sizing Tool.
- Note down the data which the dHCI Sizing Tool requires

- Note that there are some fields not included in the SAFAnalyse Tool:
There is no vMem OverCommit data in the SAFAnalyse output. If discussion with the customer or further analysis of the infrastructure does not provide a specific value, then 100% should be chosen for this field.
There is no # of HA host data in the SAFAnalyse output. This field describes how many additional servers the customer would prefer to provide high availability.
The # of CPU is the number of physical processor sockets you choose for the servers.
The CPU Model is the Processor SKU to be chosen. Each model has different capabilities and follow this numbering format:
- The server model itself is not mentioned. This is something to discuss with the customer. With HPE Nimble Storage dHCI there is a choice of ProLiant DL360 and ProLiant DL380.
What are the main differences between these models which would affect your recommendation?
- The sizing of the Nimble array itself is not included. HPE provides the NinjaSTARS sizing tool to perform this element of the sizing process.
