Nimble Storage Snapshots and Clones
Snapshot Schedules
1. Select the VMware Volume Collection.
2. Edit the data protection schedule so that snapshots are taken every minute, retaining 10 snapshots.
3. Over the next few minutes, observe that snapshots have been take on all volumes which are included in the Volume Collection.
Volume Clones
1. Create a manual snapshot of one of the data volumes.
2. Create a Clone volume based on the manual snapshot.
3. Edit the new Clone volume and choose a new protection method for this volume. (You can choose to protect it as a standalone volume, include it as part of an existing Volume Collection or create a new Volume Collection.)
Deleting a Volume Clone
1. Select the original Volume and try to delete it. Does this step succeed? Why / why not?
2. Select the parent snapshot on which the Volume Clone is based and try to delete it. Does this step succeed? Why / why not?
3. Delete the Volume Clone. What step(s) is required prior to deletion?
4. Select the parent snapshot on which the Volume Clone was based and try to delete it. Does this step succeed? Why / why not?
5. Now delete the original Volume. Does this step succeed? Why / why not?
